    Post by Animus33 Thu Feb 07, 2013 10:48 pm

Was wondering whats your top 3 most powerful armys are in the 40k and why

(I know its mostly about the player thats using them and what are your using against them them but was just wondering which ones you fear the most and think are the strongest overall)

    Mine are:

1st) Necrons (Brilliant weapons & armour saves, really well balanced codex)
2nd) Tyranids (Swarms + Monstrous creatures (alot of them) you cant go wrong!
3rd) Daemons (nearly all of them having Eternal warrior and 5+ Invun)

1st Necrons - Their scarab farm or flier spam armies are virtually unbeatable. You might have a chance if you kit your army against it, otherwise it's GG

2nd Dark Eldar - Potential for an incredibly good alpha strike. There is a crazy combo i've seen with this army using a certain ally which is practically impossible to stop. Won't be mentioning it in case i give Damian any ideas haha Razz

3rd Grey Knights - A Draigo wing list is just stupidly powerful. You won't have enough models to cover the board, but you would pulverise anything that does get in your way.

    1: Orks
    2: Orks
    3: Orks

Reason: WAAAAAGGGHH!. &; Orkses is never defeated in battle. If we win we win, if we die we die fighting so it don't count. If we runs for it we don't die neither, cos we can come back for annuver go, see!

1: Player behind army - a good player with bad army is better than bad player with good army
2: Tyranids - big mamas and masses... still don't like them
3: Necrons - pretty strong, but I don't agree it's the best one around
4: (if I can) Orks - the most versatile army around.

Oh... and Lukasz - friend from Poland - played over 100 games with him. Both sides had many different armies over that 12 years... Won 4 games against him Wink

3, Nids s/t6 spam/Eldar with FW flyers, GKs

They are potentially very good, but their difficulty rating to use, as with eldar in my opinion prevents them from being a top 3 army. They are definitly a glass cannon but if their alpha strike cannon fails their 'glass' bodies will have a difficult time, (especially if the whole army has str 6 weapons Smile).

I think i know the combo u are talking about (Drazhar, Eldrad etc.. in one super unit?) Dont worry i may use it in a friendly for fun, though based on some of the cheese lists i see in the ladder, i may pop it out one day.

    Top 3 IMO

1st= Necrons. Immensly versatile with some overpowered rules. Resilient army and vehicles do not pose a threat to them. The scarabs are broken.

2nd= Imperial guard. The ridiculous gunline that can be made is scary. Cool units and very versatile.

3rd- Nids. Nidzilla armies are very scary and incredibly resilient. Throw in a couple of flyrants and say goodbye. Some armies find this list near impossible to beat.

Nope, because that tactic got nerfed when it said that eldar powers (i.e. fortune) don't work on dark eldar. There is another hidden cheesemonster broken tactic that i saw done in a battle report lol

Except when against dark eldar. Nids find it next to impossible to beat dark eldar, but can give other armies a hard time.

And yeah, it's official, Daniel only wins because his army is BROKEN lol Razz . Don't worry, we know it's not your fault that your codex was written by Matt Ward Laughing

    Taken from http://1d4chan.org/wiki/Matthew_Ward

    2012
Matt Ward teams up with quietly disposes of Adam Troke and Jeremy Vetock to create Wardhammer 40,000 6th Edition. The whole rulebook promptly turns Codexes: Necrons and Grey Knights into rape trains with no brakes. Every single fa/tg/uy instantly regrets ever thinking the Space Tomb Kings were balanced in the first place. We're talking cheese like 9 fliers in a 1500pt list with flying dedicated transports that don't kill passengers when they crash!! What the fck. Among other rage-worthy things of note include massive Buffs to already broken beyond reason armies, highly abusable mechanics resulting in severely limited builds for HQ choices (tool for challenges or suffer!) and the Space Marine segments of the fluff being full of yet more Matt Ward Porno.

nerfed for the re-roll but still a monstaaa, death star unit!!
I know a few others, i may bring em this weekend Wink

Against dark eldar tyranids u have got it hard, but against everyone else.... thats why they enter my top 3 in 3rd!!

And yea i didnt want to spell it out but your thoughts on the necrons summarise the top 3 list.. lol

    lol

LoL well summed up, though they omitted the scarab farm that can reduce The emperors Most reliable tank to metal shavings in one round. (wish i could see dans facewhen he reads the post.. lol)

Glad to see that my and my Necrons keep so many of you, ever so entertained. haha.

-1- Though I do not agree with some of the aforementioned cheese commentary i think Damian described the army best "immensely versatile". I believe Necrons are the top army out there or if not one of the top 3 on account of this alone. A well-balanced necron army list can take on practically any other list without needing to resort to a gimmick idea (like NidZilla lists or Scarab farms for example).

Ideally all codexes should play this way in my opinion - I'm not a fan of gimmick lists or being forced to use a gimmick list because that is the only way your codex can win.

    "NECRONS NUMBA WAN"

    -2- Imperial Guard
Truly a codex that encourages you to spam meat shield. Want to use a tonne of guys with a pea shooter, want to see a tonne of these guys die horribly and some how this is a good thing and lets you win in the end, use Imperial Guard, their victories are paved with the blood and bones of endless tide of flesh the imperium throws at the enemy. Each one armed with a pea shooter.

Love imperial guard armies they are good to play against because you will kill stuff which is exactly the problem each imperial guard unit is a trap. You charge in wipe them and the rest of the gunline vaporises you with a 100 str 3 shots, or 20 Mortar shots, or (like one game i played ) 18 lascannons.

Their ability to aborb casualties and still have obscene firepower to counter attack is fantastic. The advent of fliers & fortifications, the ability to focus your shooting into specific unit locations (spearhead, flanks or rear) and the nerf to assaulting units has reinforced the competitivess of this list.

    "IMPERIAL GUARD - NUMBA TU"

    -3- Grey Knights/Space Wolves
They both roughly fill that same niche though Grey Knights do take the lead on account of having a newer codex. The Grey Knights fluff has great comedic value as Grey Knights just seem to take the urinate in 40k. Carving your name into a Demon Primarch's heart and live to tell the tale todo Nique purely because said character is just bad ass is a joke and typical Matt Word (makes me greatful that he was in a less imaginative mood when he wrote necrons though he must have been drunk when he let necrons ally with blood angels).

Disgusting close combat unit, psychic abilities up the wazu and a walker with a jump pack. The dreadknight (i think its called) is a crap concept and is pretty disgusting on the battlefield.

    "Grey Knight NUMBA TREE"

On cheese and other smelly tings
Every army has the potential for cheesemongering.
    - Imperial guard armies with 20+ lascannons.
    - Necron Scarab Farms or Flyer Wing (Replaced the old "Monolith Ressurection Wave" and "Destroy Wing").
    - Chaos Deamons Fateweaver Flamerspam.
    - 5th Edition (not in 6th Edition) Dark Elder Beast Portal lists.
    - Tau Marker Enhanced Alpha strike lists.
    - 5th Edition Descent of Angels Lists (Blood Angels).
    - Ork Nobs units with 50 x Str 7 Attacks on the charge with WS5.
    - Vector Dancing Eldar Fliers and Fortuned Eldar character units with both a 2+ armour and a 3+ invulnerable re-rollable every turn.
    - Nidzilla Lists where the army's average toughness and wounds is 6.
    - Necron Imhotek Storms.
    - Blood Angel item that gives -1 the enemy warlord's stats.
    .....

You know im sure i can find more cheese but i really should be doing some work Wink
To put it bluntly we all get given cheese at one point or another, sometimes we have to eat it and other times we make other eat it.

    ENJOY THE NECRON CHEESE!!! Muahaha....

Well until summer arrives that is , we will probably have to eat Tau Cheesecake all this summer. Smile
